Condemning Khap Panchayats for their alleged indulgence in violence against couples marrying in the same caste, the National Human Rights Comission today said that no one has the right to violate an individual's right to life in the name of tradition. <br/><br/>The commission has issued notices to public authorities to act against those responsible for propagating such violence. <br/><br/>The NHRC has asked the state authorities in UP to take action for preventing interference by Khap panchayats in the criminal justice system. <br/><br/>Maintaining that an amendment to the Hindu Marriage Act is a subject matter of wider debate, the commission said that the national perspective on social, cultural and traditional aspect should be taken into consideration.
