NHRC asks Kerala govt to pay compensation to Endosulfan victims

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has asked the Kerala government to pay monetary relief without any further delay to the victims of Endosulfan drug in Kasargod district.The Commission asked the State to comply with its recommendations within four weeks. The Commission on the 31st December, 2010 through a detailed order had recommended that the State should pay at least five lakh rupees to the next of those who died and to those who were fully bed ridden or unable to move without help or mentally retarded. It also recommended to pay three lakh rupees to those who have got other disability. The Commission suggested that a panel of doctors may assess the extent of physical disability to classify the categories of victims.
