The National Highways Authority of India, NHAI has invited private participation for developing amenities along national highways. The amenities will provide rest and refreshment for highway commuters during their journey. <br/><br/>The facilities having an area more than 5 acres will be developed under the brand name HIGHWAY VILLAGE and facilities on smaller area will be developed with brand name HIGHWAY NEST. <br/><br/>Unveiling the logo for the two in New Delhi today, Road Transport and highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, the ministry has planned to develop a network of amenities at every 50 kilometre distance on the national highways. He said, more than one thousand such amenities would need to be developed across the country.<br/><br/>Mr Gadkari said, NHAI has started the process of developing wayside amenities at land acquired at 183 locations along national highways. There will be parking facility for cars, buses and trucks, restaurant, dhaba, fuel station, minor repair shop, rest rooms for passengers and dormitories for drivers at these stoppages.
