The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated an internal investigation into alleged bribe to its officials by a foreign company.<br/><br/>The Road Transport and Highways Ministry said this in a statement in response to news reports about alleged bribe having been paid to its officials between 2011-15.<br/><br/>The company, M/s. CDM Smith Inc., USA has been working in the Road sector in India for quite some time. However, they were debarred for a period of three months in 2015 from participating or engagement in future bidding of NHAI projects because of deficiency in services in one of the projects. The Ministry said, the company has no ongoing assignment with the NHAI presently.
