NGT slams Centre, Delhi govt for alarming air pollution in national capital

The National Green Tribunal today slammed the Centre and Delhi government for not taking adequate steps to tackle alarming air pollution level in the national capital. The city government told the Tribunal that high air pollution is due to crop burning in neighbouring states of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. In its order, the Tribunal also asked the Delhi government to stop 10-year-old diesel vehicles from plying on roads in the national capital.<br/><br/>The Delhi government drew flak from the National Green Tribunal, NGT for its submission yesterday on the decline of dengue cases in the national capital,due to stoppage of mosquito breeding caused by rising air pollution.Castigating Delhi government for such a submission, a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Swatanter Kumar directed Chief Secretary of Delhi to file by today a status report on the action they have taken to tackle the alarming air pollution and smog level.
