NGT raps Punjab, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan on crop-burning

National Green Tribunal has criticised four northern states, Punjab, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan for non-submission of action plan to prevent pollution from crop-waste burning. <br/><br/>A bench headed by Tribunal's Chairperson Justice Swatanar Kumar warned the states, if they failed to comply with the directions, the Tribunal would order attachment of their treasury accounts. The case has now been posted for 11th August. <br/><br/>The Green Tribunal had banned burning of agricultural waste in open fields, as it causes air pollution.
