<span style="color: #222222;">The National Green Tribunal, NGT, has directed the Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Limited to take steps to plug the leakage in the water channel of its hydropower plant in Tehri district of Uttarakhand.<br />'' <br />'' A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel took note of a report filed by a committee that water leakage was observed from an underground channel of Srinagar Hydroelectric Project at Supada village.<br />'' <br />'' The tribunal was hearing a plea filed by a Uttarakhand resident seeking directions to take proper measures to plug the leakage from the power plant channel and to ensure the safety of the residents of the area.<br />'' <br />'' The Srinagar Hydroelectric Project of Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Limited is located on the banks of Alaknanda river in the State.<br />'' <br />''<br />''The company had set up a four-kilometre long channel to carry water from the river to the powerhouse to generate electricity.&nbsp;</span>
