The National Food Security Mission, NFSM, has been allocated 25,550 crore rupees outlay in the 12th Five Year Plan. This was infomed by Minister of State for Agriculture, Harish Rawat in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
He said that the NFSM is being revamped during the 12th five year Plan with focused attention on indentified crops following location specific, targets oriented production strategies. The revamped NFSM forges linkages with all concerned in implementation of crop production activities which have direct bearing on enhancing and stabilizing the crop production.
The Minister said that during 2012-13, NFSM is being implemented with three components namely NFSM-Rice, NFSM-Wheat and NFSM-Pulses. He said that in the 12th Plan, coarse cereal and fodder are also proposed to be included.Mr Rawat said that NFSM-Rice is being implemented in 210 districts of 24 States, NFSM-Wheat in 166 districts of 12 States and NFSM-Pulses in 468 districts of 16 States.
