<span style="color: black;">World Health Organisation Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan on Thursday said the next few months are quite critical for India regarding COVID 19. Talking to a news channel, she said India is at a crucial juncture in this pandemic and there is a need to ramp up vaccination drives and cut down social gatherings. The WHO Chief Scientist pointed out that the second wave of COVID-19 overwhelmed health sectors in India and affected a significant population. She said one third of the population in India is still susceptible to the virus. She added that there is a need to ensure maximum level of immunity amongst people.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">Dr. Swaminathan said India will go from having huge outbreaks to spurts of moderate-level infections at some stage. She also informed that WHO decision on giving emergency use authorization for COVAXIN is likely by mid-September.</span><br />''  <br />
