Hindi film Newton has been chosen to represent India in the Best Foreign Language category at the 90th Academy Awards next year. <br/><br/>The Film Federation of India announced the decision today.<br/><br/>The movie which is a black comedy on the foibles of democracy, released commercially across the country today. <br/><br/>It is Amit Masurkar's second directorial venture and features Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Raghubir Yadav, Anjali Patil and Sanjay Mishra. <br/><br/>FFI secretary general Supran Sen told PTI, the film was unanimously chosen from 26 entries this year. <br/><br/>No Indian film has ever won an Oscar. <br/><br/>The last Indian film that made it to the final five in the Best Foreign Film<br/>category list was Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan in 2001.<br/><br/>Mother India in 1958 and Salaam Bombay in 1989 are the other two Indian movies to have made it to the top five.<br/><br/>The 90th Academy Awards will be held on 4th of March, 2018, in Los Angeles.
