In Kerala, newly elected members of the urban civic bodies and the three tier panchayats were sworn-in on Monday. The eldest member of each council was first administered the oath of office, followed by others. All the local bodies in the state will have 50 per cent women as members. Out of five city corporations in the state, Thiruvanthapuram, Kollam and Kozhikode corporations will have women mayors. The election of chairpersons, deputy chairpersons of municipalities and three tier panchayats will be held next Monday. Mayors and Deputy Mayors of city corporations will be elected on November 9.
