Newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti took over as the head of the Election Commission in New Delhi today. He succeeds Nasim Zaidi. Mr Joti will continue as the Chief Election Commissioner till the 17th of January next year.<br/><br/>64-year-old Mr Joti had joined the three-member poll panel as an Election Commissioner in May, 2015. He is a 1975-batch IAS officer who retired as the Gujarat Chief secretary in January, 2013.
