New Zealand defeat Bangladesh by three wickets

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, co-hosts New Zealand continued their unbeaten streak in the pool stage, as they defeated Bangladesh by three wickets in a cliffhanger at Hamilton. Chasing a fighting target of 289, the match went back and forth, but New Zealand held their nerves, as they overhauled the target in the 49th over, with three wickets in hand. Martin Guptill top scored with 105 for the Kiwis and Shakib al Hasan took four wickets. Earlier, Mahmudullah's ton had enabled Bangladesh to post a competitive total of 288 for 7 in stipulated 50 overs. Both the teams are already in the quarter-finals from Pool A.In the other encounter at Sydney, England is chasing a revised target of 101 in 25 overs by Duckworth Lewis method against Afghanistan. They were 84 for 1 in 14 overs, when reports last came in. After repeated interruptions by rain, the match officials decided to halt Afghanistan innings at 111 for the loss of 7 wickets in 36.2 overs. This match is a dead rubber, as both the teams are out of the World Cup and will be heading home after this encounter.
