New Zealand beat India by 6 wickets in first ODI

New Zealand beat India by six wickets in the first One Day International in Mumbai today. Electing to bat, the hosts made 280 for 8 from their 50 overs. The visitors overhauled the target of 281 by scoring 284 for 4 in only 49 overs. For New Zealand, Player of the Match Tom Latham was the top scorer with an unbeaten 103, while Ross Taylor made 95. Earlier in the Indian innings, skipper Virat Kohli made it a memorable 200th ODI with a record breaking century. Kohli hit 121 off 125 balls which was his 31st hundred in the 50-over format. He overtook former Australian captain Ricky Ponting as the second highest ton-getter in this format. Only Sachin Tendulkar with 49 hundreds is ahead of Kohli. New Zealand now lead the three match series One-nil. The second ODI between the two teams will be played in Pune on Wednesday.
