The government has drafted a new youth policy in keeping pace with changing youth demography in the country. This was stated by the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Ajay Maken in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. He said that his Ministry has reviewed
the schemes and programmes meant for development and promotion of the youth to make them more effective.

The Minister said the new youth
policy has been drafted with special emphasis on promotion of national
values, social harmony and national unity. Mr. Maken said that the
policy which has been circulated to all state governments has also
provisions to promote gender justice and equality, participation in
community service and preparing adolescents for facing challenges of
life.
