US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates says, the new strategy in Afghanistan is working and he will deliver that message to the White House during a key meeting next week. Secretary Gates gave his assessment during a press conference in Kabul Wednesday with the Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai. The Defence Secretary said that he is convinced that the new strategy has left the Taliban with lesser territory than a year ago but acknowledged that US troops and Nato forces faced a tough fight in areas where the Taliban remains in control.
