Patricia A. Butenis who was nominated by President Barack Obama as the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives on May 27, 2009 today presented her credentials to President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Prior to this assignment, Ambassador Butenis served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad from 2007-2009. From 2006-2007, she served as Ambassador to Bangladesh and from 2004-2006 as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.
