The Indian Railways is introducing new guidelines from today to overcome the menace of touts cornering the tatkal tickets meant for common passengers. Under the new scheme the booking of tickets will start at 10.00am on the previous day of the journey instead of 8.00 am. Railway spokeperson Anil Saxena spoke to AIR about the new measures taken to streamline the Tatkal booking system. While some zones will be operating separate counters for Tatkal tickets, others will be issuing tickets from the same
counters but will provide only Tatkal tickets through these counters between 10 AM and 10.30 AM. The requirement of indicating mobile number in the application form is also being insisted to cross verify their genuineness of the passengers .
