New Sports Village in Nagpur to be named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbanand Sonowal has asserted that sport is not only a tool of personality development, but also a way of life for enrichment of the society through nurturing of healthy and cultured populace. <br/><br/>He was speaking at the handing over ceremony of the land for the proposed Regional Centre of Sports Authority of India in Nagpur today. The Minister announced that the new Sports Village would be named after the legendary leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.<br/><br/>Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari said that the local youth as well as those from Vidarbha region and parts of the Central India would benefit from the state-of-the-art sports facilities to be set up in Nagpur giving a big boost for development of sports culture.<br/><br/>Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called for organization of national and international events in order to groom local talent. <br/><br/>Nagpur Municipal Corporation has provided 140 acres of land for this largest project in the country at the nominal cost of one rupee on the lease of thirty years. <br/><br/>The ambitious project slated to be developed with input cost of around 300 crore rupees would have the state-of-the-art sports infrastructure and allied facilities. The jurisdiction of the Regional Centre would include Maharashtra, Goa and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
