New simplified Guidelines for Adoption of Children come into effect

The new simplified Guidelines Governing Adoption of Children 2015 have come into effective from yesterday. Women and Child Development Ministry has notified the revised guidelines on 17th of last month for governing adoption of children issued by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). An official release said, the revised guidelines have been framed keeping in mind the issues and challenges faced by CARA, Adoption Agencies and Prospective Adoptive Parents. It said, the new guidelines are intended to provide for more effective regulation for adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children. The Ministry said, this will bring more transparency and efficiency in the adoption system.<br/><br/>The completely revamped Central Adoption Resource Information Guidance System (CARINGS) will facilitate the adoption of maximum number of adoptable children and ensure a smoother adoption process by curbing undue delays. <br/><br/>CARINGS will contain a centralized data bank of adoptable children and Prospective Adoptive Parents. The Ministry said, all the District Child Protection Units will be connected online to CARINGS.
