The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA has approved the construction of a new broad gauge line between Pirpainti and Jasidih in Jharkhand. The project will be implemented at a cost of around 916 crore rupees which will be funded 50 percent through budgetary support and 50 percent through the Jharkhand government. The rail link between Pirpainti and Jasidih is necessary for providing direct connectivity to business centres lying in the backward regions of Jharkhand and Bihar. The CCEA also gave its nod for the construction of a 165 kilometer new broad gauge line between Ajmer and Sawai Madhopur via Tonk in Rajasthan. The project will cost around 874 crore rupees. The new line will provide infrastructure support to the backward districts of Ajmer, Tonk and Sawai Madhopur and an alternate route between Chittaurgarh and Sawai Madhopur on the Delhi – Ahmedabad route. The CCEA also approved the construction of a new rail line between Gadag and Wadi in Karnataka. The total length of the new line will be over 252 kilometer and its implementation will cost over 1922 crore rupees. It would provide a direct shorter route for the people of the area and further to Hyderabad and Secunderabad in Andhra Pradesh. The CCEA also approved the revival plan of Indian Telephone Industries Limited based on the recommendations of the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises. The revival plan will be supported through financial restructuring by fund infusion of around 4157 crore rupees. The CCEA also gave its nod for the continuation of the Sustainable and Inclusive Development of Natural Rubber Sector scheme with an outlay of 960 crore rupees in the 12th Plan with some modifications. The main objective of the scheme is to enhance natural rubber production and productivity.
