Railway Ministry has announced a new policy to speed up the process of connecting coal and iron ore mining belts by the rail network. According to an official release under the Railway's Policy for Connectivity to Coal and Iron Ore Mines, the surcharge on the freight carried on these lines will be given to the developers as an incentive. Developers will also be responsible only for the construction of the lines and the ownership will then be transferred to the Railways. The operations and maintenance of the lines will be looked after by the Railways.
