New Nepal PM swears in today

In Nepal, the swearing-in-ceremony of Prime Minister-elect Jhalanath Khanal will take place at the Rashtapati Bhavan in Kathmandu tomorrow afternoon. President's Media Advisor told AIR that President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav will administer the oath of office to Jhalanath Khanal.On Thursday, Nepal's Parliament elected the veteran CPN(UML) leader Jhalanath Khanal as the new Prime Minister after the Maoist Chairman Prachanda withdrew his candidature and announced his party's support to a Khanal-led UML government. Khanal said conclusion of the peace process and crafting a new constitution is his top most priority.AIR Kathmandu correspondent report that hectic consultations are taking place within CPN (UML) and the Maoists on formation of the new government even as Nepali Congress – the second largest party has decided to remain in opposition and give issue-based support to the new Government.
