New measures announced by PM aim at benefitting vulnerable sections of society : I&B Minister

Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu has termed the new measures announced by the Prime Minister as part of the government's vision to empower the vulnerable sections. <br/><br/>Briefing media in New Delhi today, Mr Naidu criticised the opposition parties for the fact that Mr Narendra Modi has been able to reach out to the vulnquestioning the Prime Minister's vision. <br/><br/>He alleged that the Congress is unable to digest erable sections by announcing welfare measures. Mr Naidu wondered how any party could criticise the timing of the announcements, saying that the Congress feels they have lost relevance. <br/><br/>The Minister said, the relief measures for farmers, small traders and women are aimed at giving them entitlements which were denied as a result of subversion of systems and Congress rule. <br/><br/>He also denied the allegation that the announcements have political objectives saying the steps are only to provide relief to the people.<br/><br/>Last evening, Mr Modi had announced two housing schemes, tax incentives for small traders, interest rebate for farmers and monetary assistance for pregnant women.
