After assuming charge as Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah has announced various sops to Scheduled Castes, Tribes, milk producers and poorer sections of the society.
Briefing media persons after assuming charge, Siddaramaiah said the Congress party manifesto will be implemented in letter and spirit within four years, and as per the manifesto proposal, the poor in the state will be given rice at one rupee per kilogram.
The unit system of disbursal will be removed and a maximum of 30 kg rice at subsidised rate will be given to each family. The programme will come into effect from next month. He also announced waiver of loans taken in SC/ST development Corporations.
The house building subsidy has been increased from 75,000 rupees to 1,20,000 rupees, milk producers incentive increased from two rupees to four rupees and last date for earning five percent rebate on property tax has been extended till June end.
He said that sops announced today will benefit one crore 38 lakh people and incur a burden of 4409 crore rupees on the State exchequor. Replying to a question, he said, Cabinet formation will be decided in a couple of days after he pays a visit to New Delhi.
He also stressed that he will put the law into motion against charges faced by ministers in the previous government of BJP.
