New J&K govt likely to be sworn in next week, oath ceremony on April 4

In Jammu & Kashmir, the new government is expected to be installed next week after a lull of nearly three months following death of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7 this year. <br/><br/>Last week (March 26), PDP staked claim for government formation before Governor and BJP instantly had supported the PDP's claim thereby ending nearly three month deadlock over new government formation. <br/><br/>Both PDP and BJP have conveyed mutually agreed date for the swearing-in ceremony to the Governor N N Vohra. BJP Deputy CM designate Dr Nirmal Singh told AIR that 4th April is the mutually agreed date for oath ceremony to be held in Raj Bhawan, Jammu. <br/><br/>Dr Singh said the coalition government will work on the basis of mutually agreed agenda of alliance already agreed upon between the two parties. He said there were no differences on portfolios or other issues with its ally PDP. <br/><br/>With this the PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti is set to become the first woman chief minister of the Muslim-majority Jammu & Kashmir state. Several union ministers were expected to attend the swearing in ceremony.
