The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue bank notes of ten and fifty denomination incorporating the rupee symbol and with inset letter 'L'. In a press release issued from Mumbai on yesterday, RBI has said that notes will be issued in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 bearing the signature of RBI Governor Dr. D. Subbarao. The release adds that all banknotes in the denomination of ten and fifty issued by RBI in the past will continue to be legal tender.
