New govts in Meghalaya & Tripura to be sworn in on Wed, NPF set to take over reins in Nagaland

After winning the Tripura assembly election, the stage is all set for choosing the Leader to head the new Left front Government. The new government will take Oath of office on next Wednesday.

The Left front newly elected Legislatures will meet on Monday in Agartala to elect their new leader. Today the Left Front in a press meet also informed that the oath taking ceremony will be held on 6th of March in 3 PM as per the Constitutional Provision. It is though expected that the Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will again be elected in the meeting on Monday to head the 5th Left Front Government in the state.

In Nagaland, the Naga People’s Front, NPF, which won the Assembly election securing an absolute majority by winning 38 seats, is all set to form the new Government in the State.

The party held a meeting this afternoon, where Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was re-elected the leader of the NPF to lead the new Government in the State.

NPF and its alliance partners BJP and JD(U) also had meeting later today. NPF led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland, DAN with BJP and JD(U) as alliance partners were in rule for the last two terms. This will be the third term for the NPF led DAN to head the government in the state.

Official sources said, the Chief Minister will meet the State Governor, Nikhil Kumar on Monday to stake claim for formation of the new Government in the state.

In Meghalaya, the newly elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party Dr.Mukul Sangma has staked to form the new Government.

He met Governor R.S. Mooshahary today to stake the claim after Congress Legislature Party meeting held in Shillong this afternoon elected him as its leader again.

The Congress won the Assembly election 29 seats in the 60 member assembly. The meeting was chaired by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr. D.D. Lapang under the supervision of AICC observer Vayalar Ravi.

Speaking to the media, Vayalar Ravi said that the AICC Parliamentary Committee has approved the resolution of Congress Legislature Party.

Dr. Mukul Sangma said the Congress has already got the unconditional support from two Nationalist Congress Party and eight Independents have also given their support in the formation of the Congress led Government in Meghalaya.

He said, he would met the Meghalaya Governor, R.S. Mooshahary this evening to stake claim for formation of the new Congress led Government in the state.
