Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri today, May 2 said the new gas pricing reform and rationalisation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will protect citizens from extreme price volatility and provide clarity for planned capex investments in gas-based sectors. <br />'' <br />'' In an article in a newspaper, the Minister said the reform promotes more innovation and investments in India's exploration and production sector giving a major forward thrust to India's journey towards energy self-sufficiency. He wrote that several initiatives by the government have ensured that citizens do not bear the brunt of price increases. He pointed out that despite a staggering increase of 228 per cent in international gas prices between January 2021 and February this year, the increase in CNG prices in India has been restricted to 83 per cent.
