Scientists have found new evidence that degenerative changes in the brain caused by Alzheimer disease occur more than 20 years before symptoms of dementia become apparent. They said they have detected early signs of brain abnormalities among adult members of a family. The study has been published in the medical journal Lancet Neurology. Experts said it may give doctors more time to treat people.
