The Jammu and Kashmir Government will enact a new comprehensive law to replace the existing J&K Disabled Act which will be in tune with the National Disabled Act to address the problems of the disabled in the State. <br/><br/>Speaking at a function organized in connection with International Disabled Day at Jammu on Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Finance, Mr. A.R Rather said that the new act would be integrated and harmonized both with the National as well as the International Disabled Act to accommodate the aspirations of the disabled people.<br/><br/>Speaking in the function organized by J&K Handicapped Welfare Association in collaboration with NSS, the Minister said that the disabled persons are important part of the society and can contribute constructively in shaping the future of the nation provided that they are equipped with the opportunities of growth and development. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, the State Government has distributed the cheques amounting to Rs. 1.94 crore among 184 displaced persons of 1947 in a function at Gaddigarh near Jammu on Thursday. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla said that the State government has enhanced the ex-gratia and deficiency compensation being given to the displaced persons of 1947. <br/><br/>AIR Correspondent, Yogesh Sharma reports that the sanction has been accorded to payment of Rs. 30,000 per kanal instead of Rs. 5000/-per kanal subject to a maximum of Rs. 1,50,000 per 5 kanals and above as ex-gratia compensation for land deficiency to the displaced persons from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.<br/>
