New Delhi World Book Fair begins today at Pragati Maidan

New Delhi World Book Fair began today at Pragati Maidan. Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani inaugurated it. Besides International agencies like WHO and UNESCO, a total of 30 countries are taking part in the nine-day event.<br/><br/>The theme for this year is Cultural Heritage of India. China is the Guest Country. Over 1,000 titles in major Indian languages on philosophy, language and literature from ancient to contemporary times are on display. A series of programmes including panel discussions, classical and folk dances, workshops, authors' meets and seminars will be organised during the fair.<br/><br/>The fair is jointly organised by National Book Trust and India Trade Promotion Organisation. Organisers have made arrangement for 20 shuttle services inside the fair to ferry visitors to various pavilions. Tickets are priced at 20 rupees and will be sold from today. School children and differently-abled persons will be given free entry.
