New Delhi to give appropriate response if Pak makes formal proposal for talks

New Delhi says there are positive indications from Pakistani side and India will give an appropriate response if Islamabad makes a formal proposal for talks between the two Foreign Ministers. External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said this in reply to a question on the offer of Pakistani Foreign Minister on holding talks following tension at the LoC. He was talking to media on the sidelines of Chintan Shiver in Jaipur.

In a related development Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said, India's dialogue with its immediate neighbours must be based on accepted principles of civilized behaviour.

Mrs. Gandhi said, India's foreign policy has always had a vision of the country occupying its rightful place and excercising its unique influence in world affairs.
