New Delhi signs MoU with Afghanistan to provide technical cooperation

India on wednesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with Afghanistan to provide technical cooperation in the areas of skill development, industrial relations, health insurance and social security. The MoU was signed by the Union Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge with his counterpart Ms. Amena Afzali of Afghanistan. Mr. Kharge said that under the MoU, India will boost capacity building programmes for labour administration. He added that India will assist Afghanistan in developing a Labour Institute to provide technical expertise in designing research studies in these areas. Mr. Kharge also said that VV Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) will also organise more training programmes for Afghan officials. The Labour Minister also noted that there are around four thousand Indians in Afghanistan engaged in the task of rebuilding the war torn country both through Government of India projects and private sector initiatives.
