New Delhi rules out scaling down its operations in Afghanistan

New Delhi has ruled out scaling down its operations in Aftghanistan. It has reiterated its commitment to assist the people and the government of Afghanistan in building a peaceful pluralistic democratic and prosperous country. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha today, the Minister of State for External Affairs, Mrs. Praneet Kaur said the government has enhanced security measures for the safety of security personnel and other Indians working in Kabul. She said that the Afghan government has also assured full protection to them. She said Indians working there are regularly advised about the prevailing security scenario and necessary precautionary measures. The Minister said the Government has taken steps to ensure financial and other assistance to the families of Indian officials and the Indians working on government-aided projects killed in various attacks in Afghanistan. This includes ex-gratia compensation, insurance payments, liberalized pensionary and other admissible benefits. <br/>
