New Delhi has ruled out any possibility of the repeat of the 1962 Indo-China war. Paying homage to soldiers who fought the war, Defence Minister A K Antony said in New Delhi today that armed forces are confident of protecting the nation from any such threat. He said India today is not the India of 1962. Over the years, India has strengthened its capabilities and modernised the armed forces. India will continue to build its infrastructure and provide best equipment to its armed forces, while continuing to its dialogue with China on the border issue and maintaining cordial relations with it, he said.
The Defence minister was speaking on the sidelines of an event to honour the soldiers of the 1962 war on its 50th anniversary.
Defence Minister Antony, along with Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju, Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh and the three services Chiefs paid homage to the 1962 war heroes and laid wreaths at Amar Jawan Jyoti.
