New Delhi is against any legal binding on the emission of green house gases. Top government sources said that the Government is also not in favour of absolute cut in green house gases. The issue came up for discussion in the Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh this evening.

The government's view point assumes importance in the wake of ongoing UN Summit on Climate Change in Durban, South Africa. The conference has several proposals including a legal binding on cut in the green house gases for consideration to address the climate change problem.
