New Delhi has emerged as the most competitive city in India followed by Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The top ten list is completed by Gurgaon, Bengaluru ,NOIDA, Pune and Ahmedabad. The India City Competitiveness Report-2012, compiled by Harvard based Institute for Competitiveness says Delhi has managed to demonstrate a phenomenal growth over a period of time by balancing demand and development in equal measure. However it found the city lagging behind in areas of administrative and institutional support. The report says in comparison to the top global cities , the Indian cities have a lot to do. When benchmarked globally , Delhi is at 46.7 against 55.2 for Shanghai, 69.3 for Hongkong , 70.4 for London and 71.4 for NewYork.
