New Delhi has invited Rome to enhance Foreign Direct Investment and technology transfer in India especially in automobiles, heavy engineering and machine tools.
The issue was discussed during the meeting between Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Praful Patel with Italian Minister for Economic Development Paolo Romani in New Delhi today.
Mr. Patel said that the automobile industry in India is one of the top sectors attracting about 65% of FDI in-flows from Italy.
During the meeting the two ministers also discussed the prospects of investment by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited BHEL in Italy.
Mr. Patel noted that BHEL's area of interest in Italy include reconstruction of old thermal power plants, supplying of solar cells and modules to Italian integrators of Solar Power System and also setting up of small Solar Power Systems in association with local partners.
