New Delhi: I&B Ministry and Amazon India sign collaboration agreement to boost India's creative economy and promote talent

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Amazon India have signed a collaboration agreement in New Delhi to boost India's creative economy and promote creative talent in the country. As part of the agreement, Amazon Prime Video will sponsor scholarships, create internship programmes, and offer job opportunities for students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Award-winning films and films produced as part of India's international co-production treaties will be onboarded by Amazon Prime Video. Amazon Prime Video and MiniTV will also onboard the rich archival content owned by Prasar Bharati and NFDC for easy access to the youth of the country and across the world.<br />'' Speaking on the occasion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said, the Indian Media and Entertainment industry is growing at a double-digit growth rate and is a key contributor to India's creative economy. He said, Digital India has increased access to the Internet, smartphones and smart TVs, which have been a catalyst for the growth of new forms of entertainment such as OTT platforms. The Minister said, today, films, television and OTT entertainment sectors are playing a crucial role in the overall growth of the audio-visual services sector and generating jobs for Indian youth. Mr Thakur said, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has taken several initiatives to create a conducive atmosphere for the entertainment Industry in India. He said, the partnership will help strengthen industry-academia linkages through provisions for scholarships, internships, masterclasses, and other opportunities for students.<br />''     <br />'' On the occasion, Actor Varun Dhawan spoke about the depths being reached by streaming services. He said, streaming is now reaching a world stage. He highlighted that streaming services act as a leveller and said that new actors and creators, a talent that had so far remained on the sidelines can now connect with audiences worldwide.<br />''   <br />'' The Letter of Engagement leads to a multidimensional partnership between the various organisations under the Ministry and various verticals of Amazon. These include the National Film Development Corporation, Prasar Bharati, Publications Division, and the media training institutions of the Film and Television Institute of India, and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute on the Government's side.
