The Government on Saturday said it is hopeful of getting voice samples of Pakistan-based handlers of 26/11 Mumbai attackers and speedy trial of the seven prime accused including LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi there. Presenting his ministry's monthly report card, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said he has asked his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik to hand over the voice samples of those Pakistanis who were giving directions to the 10 terrorists during the Mumbai terror attack in 2008 that claimed 166 lives.
The Home minister also said, intelligence inputs have also been received that terrorist groups are investing in the stock markets in the country through spurious companies. He said the Home Ministry is tracking the development and has also alerted the Interpol on this. He said, terror backed firms are putting in money in the stock markets through spurious companies, setting up fictitious businesses and also involved in money laundering. He said, several instance of flow of fake currency into India has also been detected and was brought to the notice of Interpol.
Shinde said New Delhi has decided to send an armed contingent of its specially-trained commandos to guard the Indian Embassy in violence-hit Libyan capital of Tripoli. The decision was taken recently and an armed contingent drawn from one of the central armed police forces will be deployed to secure the Embassy and the residence of the Ambassador in Tripoli. Shinde said the home ministry has given in-principle approval to the proposal mooted by the Ministry of External Affairs . The Indian Embassy in Tripoli is located in the Fashloom Area in Nafleen. The decision comes in the backdrop of September terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi that left US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three others dead.
On Telegana, Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said, that discussion with concerned parties over the Telangana statehood issue has been completed. He said, further discussions can take place before or after the Winter Session of Parliament. Shinde asked for observing patience on the issue for a few more months.
On National Counter Terrorism Centre , Home minister said, he will write to the Chief ministers to take forward the good work done by his predecessor P. Chidambaram.
Union Home Secretary R K Singh said Pakistan government has requested the Rawalpindi court to hold day-to-day trial against the seven prime accused, including Lakhvi, involved in the Mumbai terror attack.
AIR correspondent reports, Islamabad meanwhile is framing a new law under which voice samples of an accused could be taken legally and handed over to any other country. Options to record the voice samples of 26/11 handlers through other means and match it with the samples given by India can also be considered.
