New Delhi holds its defence exchange with China

India has put on Hold its defence exchanges with China. This follows the refusal of visa by Beijing to the General Officer Commanding in Chief of Northern Command, Lt. Gen. B.S.Jaswal. Official sources said in New Delhi that the visit of three Chinese army officers inlcuding a senior Colonel and two captains who were scheduled to visit India has been kept on hold. Sources said that the defence relationship between the two countries is more than 15 years long and the two countries need to be sensitive to each others concerns. Our correspondent quoting the sources reports that New Delhi has made it clear to Beijing that anything that questions status of an integral part of India is unacceptable. Earlier, China had started issuing of staple visas to Indians living in Jammu and Kashmir. The sources, however, denied the reports that any diplomat from Chinese embassy was summoned today in this regard. They however said that the Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yang's meeting with the officials of External Affairs Ministry was a routine meet.
