At least three passengers were killed and more than 100 injured when Kalka-bound Howrah Kalka Express derailed near Malwan Railway Station in Fatehpur District of Uttar Pradesh. Quoting sources AIR Lucknow Correspondent reports, the engine, the pantry van and 10 boggies derailed at 12.15 p.m. Senior railway and civil officials have reached the spot to monitor rescue and relief operation. Injured have been admitted at community Health Centre, Malwan and district hospital Fatehpur.Rail traffic is disrupted on busiest Delhi-Howrah route. Several major trains have been halt at different railway stations under North-central railway. The cause of the incident is not yet known. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the loss of lives caused by the Train accident at Malwa station involving the Kalka Mail. The Prime Minister spoke to the Minister of State for Railways and also to the Chairman, Railway Board. Dr Singh has instructed that all available resources in the area be deployed for rescue and relief operations. The Minister of State for Railways Mukul Roy has announced five lakh rupees ex-gratia to the next of the kin of the dead, one lakh rupees for those who sustained serious injuries and 25,000 rupees for those with minor injuries.
