New Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has expressed her happiness on her appointment and said that the country's defence is constantly on the top of her mind. Mrs Sitharaman said, she was grateful for the confidence shown by the the Prime Minister on her. She said that Prime Minister Modi always believes in giving women their due share.<br/><br/>Sitharaman was among the four ministers of state who were given cabinet berths at the reshuffle today. She was earlier the Minister of State (Independent Charge) Commerce and Industry.<br/><br/>Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who was also holding the Defence portfolio, congratulated his successor saying that the ministry is in extremely competent hands. He said, the appointment sends a global message and it is great for the country as well as for the women. <br/>
