New currency notes available at ATMs from today

The new 500 and 2000 rupees currency notes are now available with withdrawal limit of 2,000 rupees per day per card up to November 18th at bank ATMs from today. The limit will be raised to 4,000 rupees per day per card from 19 November.<br/><br/>The ATMs were closed after Prime Minister announced about scrapping of the 500 and 1000 rupees notes. A number of steps have been taken by bank authorities to facilitate withdrawal of money from ATMs, exchange currency at banks, withdraw money from accounts. <br/><br/>Long queues are being seen outside banks and ATMs in the national capital, with many ATMs still not functioning. Today is the last date for old notes to be accepted as payment for water and electricity bills, government penalties, petrol pumps, government hospitals, metros and railway tickets.
