Mr. Ranjit Kumar Pachananda will be the new Commissioner of Kolkata Police. He will replace Mr. Gautam Mohan Chakravarti as his tenure has passed the three-year time limit. Earlier, the Election Commission directed the West Bengal Government to replace Mr. Chakravarti and to send a three-member panel to select a new incumbent through the Chief Electoral Officer of the State at the earliest. The Commission ultimately selected Mr. Pachananda and sent its order to the West Bengal Government through Chief Electoral Officer.
