Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has said a new BPL list will be prepared after socio- economic census of various state of the country. All the villages with a minimum population of 250 people will be linked with roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojane, PMGSY.

Talking to media at Patna Mr. Ramesh said the socio- economic census is going on in several parts of the country. He said the present BPL list is partially defective which needed to be rectified as several ultra poor people are still out of the BPL list. The Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said the naxal problem could not only be sorted out by security forces but developing naxal infested areas we could certainly overcome this menace.
Mr. Ramesh said the centre has evolved development strategies for 78 naxal infested districts in the country. Kaimur and Munger districts of Bihar have been included in this list. Naxal problem in Jharkhand, Odisha and Chatisgarh is serious as compared to Bihar.
