Government has said the new aviation policy is aimed at bringing India at the third position in the aviation traffic market by 2022. Currently the country stands at 9th position with the growth rate of 22 percent. <br/><br/>In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma said, the policy intends to provide air services to comman man by increasing regional connectivity in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. He said, presently the country has 482 air strips out of which only 76 are being used as airports. <br/><br/>Dr. Sharma said, the government has plans to develop 50 to 100 airports in the coming years. The Minister added that the new policy has addressed all the issues related to the aviation sector.
