The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh on Tuesday got its new chief with the central leadership appointing Behali MLA, Mr Ranjit Dutta as the state party president. Mr Dutta has twice emerged winner from the constituency and is the deputy leader of the BJP legislature party. He is also a former national secretary of the BJP Yuba Morcha.<br/> It needs to be mentioned here that seven candidates were in fray for the post of the president, the election for which was slated on December 30. However, the party had failed to elect its president as none of the candidates were willing to withdraw their nominations.<br/>According to the party sources, on the basis of the feedback collected from the state council members by senior leader, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan, the central leadership has declared Mr Dutta as the new Assam BJP president.<br/>
