Railways have announced laying of a new 176-km line connecting Rajasthan with Madhya Pradesh. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is likely to lay the foundation of the 2083-crore rupees Ratlam-Banswara-Dungarpur rail line project in Dungarpur on Friday. The proposed line will pass through Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh and Banswara and Dungarpur in Rajasthan. A Railways release said, the project is expected to be completed in five years. The proposed line will help in the movement of coal for thermal power plants which the Rajasthan government is mulling to set up in this area. The state government will bear the total cost of land acquisition and also share the 50 per cent of the cost of the new line.
